Reproduzco un comunicado recibido del equipo gestor de los premios BOBs:
This year’s Best of the Blogs’ online voting system has been the victim of a targeted hacker attack.
Unidentified individuals attempted to manipulate the contest’s results by casting large numbers of votes for several blogs in all of the BOBs’ categories in a seemingly indiscriminate manner.
The hack has been isolated and did not affect the entire Voting phase. We will not, however, be able to filter out only the manipulated votes before the November 15 deadline.
We have decided our only course of action is to remove all votes cast during the contaminated time period. But we will work to recover the valid votes to the best of our ability.
We realize online voting is not 100-percent secure. However, we still believe that — in addition to the Jury Prize — a fair online voting process is an important aspect of the BOBs, and we plan to continue it in the future.
We regret this situation and ask for your understanding in our handling of the matter.
Even after this unfortunate event, we remain convinced this year’s Best of the Blogs will be a successful event. We will continue to introduce our users to interesting blogs and podcasts from all over the blogosphere and support bloggers who practice their trade in countries where the free exchange of ideas is restricted.
The Jury award winners will be announced as planned on November 15, 2007 at a ceremony in Berlin. Further information on the event can be found at: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/216592/
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
